*honks*
“HEY SIIIIIIIR”
Sir: “Whaaaaat?”
Me: “Do you have your lights on?”
Sir: “No”
Me: “Well, turn them on”
Sir: “Why?”
Me: “What do you mean why? it’s 9:45PM”
Sir: “are my DLRs too dim?”
Me: “yeeees”
*Car behind me starts shinning brights because I didn’t reach all the way to the intersection*

Next time ask him if he knows what DRL stands for and that it doesn’t matter how dim or bright they are, they aren’t headlights and he’s not lit up at the rear.
Also, punch him in the nose for being a dick.

Now that I leave college at 8PM (when it starts to get dim outside) I am getting increasingly anxious about people not running their headlamps... also in relatively modern cars that very probably have auto lights anyway. The sir I was talking about was in a brand new Kia Soul.

Having no taillights is the biggest deal breaker for me.
If you drl at night you are an idiot

I much prefer it when cars have their taillights on as part of the DRL setup. Even during the day I find it makes them easier to see and judge movement , and it helps mitigate morons at night. Of course the real answer is auto lights that you can only temporarily disable.

Ugh. If I had a dollar for every Toyota/Honda that doesn’t have it lights on at appropriate times (dusk, night, rain), I could buy all the car mods.

I guess it makes sense for manufacturers to start including taillights, to avoid this sort of behavior
